Real OT Solutions® offers a number of professional development courses that can help you meet your continuing education credit requirements. Whether you prefer to learn online, in person, or on your own (also known as self-study, remote, or distance education), we have options for every type of educator and therapist. Occupational Therapy Workshops & Webinars
One of our favorite ways to teach is through OT courses online. We know it isn’t always easy to take time off and travel for a multi-day seminar, so we offer a virtual solution that circumvents scheduling problems and offsets travel costs.
Our online occupational therapy courses are AOTA-approved and help you earn the continuing education credits you need to enhance your therapy sessions and grow your career. The series covers everything you need to know about Size Matters®, so you can seamlessly integrate this program into your regular sessions.
Continuing Education Workshops for Professionals
These types of workshops offer continuing education to teachers and therapists in bite-sized courses that cover proven and evidence-based strategies and emerging best practices that ensure they can work cooperatively with each other and their students. Some topics you can expect to see in these therapist and teacher professional development workshops include:
- 3-Part Self-Study SMHP® Webinar Series
- 3-Part Self-Study Best School-Based Practices Webinar Series
- OT Across the Curriculum: Handwriting Resources
- Handwriting Program: Caseload to Workload
- SMHP® Tier 2 Handwriting Certification: SMHP® Tier 2 Certification

Self-Study SMHP®
If teaching handwriting is critical to your curriculum, we offer a three-part, self-study webinar series that can improve the results you’re getting in the classroom while maintaining your required continuing education credits. This self-study series also qualifies as a prerequisite for SMHP® Tier One Therapist Certification. Altogether, the course is seven hours and helps you earn 0.7 credits. Additionally, you can work at your own pace, completing the entire series over the course of a few days or a few weeks.
To earn your certificate for this course, you’ll need to score 70% or higher on the post-test.
Host a Workshop

While many of our courses and webinars are designed for therapists and educators studying independently, we do offer options for school districts or organizations that want to host a seminar for their entire team.
Hosting a workshop through Real OT Solutions® means we can tailor the course to the specific needs of your participants. Choose a workshop that ranges from one to three to full-day five- or six-hour courses, opt for an onsite or online environment, and clarify the experience your educators already have with the Size Matters® program. We can introduce Size Matters® to educators with no experience at all or build upon what they already know and use every day!
If you’d like a customized workshop for your organization, please reach out to us to discuss the specifics of the program you’d like to host.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do CEU/PDU credits work?
One hour of Continuing Education Unit is worth 0.1 CEUs of seminars, workshops, or webinars. You can complete your credits in smaller increments, including courses that range from 1 to 5 hours. For Professional Development Units (PDU), 1 PDU equals 1 hour of learning.
Do you provide proof of completion for continuing education?
Yes, but you must pass the post-test after independent study courses with a 70% or higher. You must then submit the paperwork yourself to the organizing body for therapy or education.
Do online courses count toward continuing education credits?
Of course! Both online and in-person courses offer valuable information and strategies for success when working with students.
