Product Spotlight: Learning Handwriting With Student Workbooks

Prewriting Workbooks & More

At Real OT Solutions®, we have a multi-pronged approach to teaching and learning handwriting. Our team has developed resources for teachers, parents, and students. With this product spotlight, we’ll be discussing our prewriting workbooks and practice workbooks for students. Review this guide to our student workbooks to learn more about why these pages are so effective for students.

Workbook Overview

The student workbook is geared toward learners in kindergarten, first grade, and those who require a little extra learning support. Our handwriting books for five-year-olds offer a gradual guide to writing, starting with Size 1 uppercase letters and numbers, followed by Size 1-3 lowercase letters.

This developmental journey is designed to introduce important concepts, including letter sizes, starting points, touchpoints, and more. You’ll also find that the learning handwriting workbook has several practice pages with 10 learning activities on each page, including letter identification, tracing practice, and a coloring exercise where students discover a story that features characters that begin with the letter they’re practicing.

Why It’s So Effective

Learning handwriting is so much more effective and efficient when children are engaged and excited about practicing. Dr. Bev, the mind behind the Size Matters® Handwriting Program and Real OT Solutions®, has decades of experience helping parents, teachers, and Occupational Therapists relate to the children they’re trying to teach. With our tools, like handwriting books for five-year-olds and other handwriting resources, we encourage an excitement for learning through activities that children actually want to do. It’s more than just handwriting practice; our teaching methods also explore drawing, coloring, and games to instill a love of learning!
